I grew up in a small town called Westwood, Kansas, near Overland Park. I'm the fourth of five children (four girls, one boy), born to Julie and Philip Hanson. I grew up playing neighborhood games of kick-the-can, hide-and-seek, and gray-ghost. I have wonderful memories of my childhood. I lived in the same house most of my life and had to go to bed by 9:30 p.m. (can you believe that?). My favorite books growing up were the Laura Ingalls Wilder series, "Horton Hears a Who" by Dr. Seuss, "Blubber" and "Are You There God It's Me Margaret" by Judy Blume. There were a lot of other books I enjoyed, but those are the ones I can remember right now.

I graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1985. I ran track and cross-country. I wanted to try out for the basketball team, but I was too scared. I wasn't very "popular," but I did have some very good friends, and we did everything together. I liked high school. I don't think I'd do it again, but I had a good time while I was there.

I entered Kansas State University in 1987 as an English major, striving to be a writer. I didn't do very well the first semester (there was just so much fun to be had!). I changed my major several times before deciding on Speech/Language Pathology as my final goal. I moved to Wichita, KS and finished my undergraduate degree from The Wichita State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 1991. I earned my Masters of Arts degree in 1993.

About My Family...

I married the most wonderful man alive, Mike Domnick, in June of 1990. We have four kids: Jessica (15) Jack, (12), Madeline (10), and Max (9).  Currently, we live in Wichita, KS.  Mike is a social science teacher at Maize High School, and I am a speech/language pathologist for Rainbows United Inc.

Our weekends are spent reading library books, practicing spelling words, folding laundry, and attending activities. I'm kind of a neat-freak, so my kids feel like they have to work all the time!

Jessica is in the 9th grade and enjoys the computer, talking on the phone, reading, playing sports, and being the center of attention. She is smart, funny, and confident.

Jack is in 6th grade and loves to do math! He likes all sports, especially basketball and soccer. He also likes to whittle wood with his pocket knife. He is happy, quick, and very sweet.

Madeline is in 5th grade and likes volleyball and basketball. She also likes to write in her journal and play the flute. She is always smiling, is very sensitive, and is quite independent.

Max is in 3rd grade and likes to play video games. He is learning to play chess, enjoys board games and can hip-hop well. He is head-strong, honest, and energetic.

I hope you've enjoyed meeting me and my family. I look forward to meeting you too.
